Today’s news:
  • Register for second semester of summer school
  • Marsh visit reinforce lessons about grit, growth mindset
  • Students invited to join Teen Advisory Panel
1.  Register for second semester of summer school
Second semester of our summer school begins next week. Students have the opportunity to recoup lost credits, prepare for the next level of academic rigor through Bridge classes, build skills and expand their knowledge base. Summer school credit courses run July 5 through 27, and non-credit classes run from July 10 through 25. We encourage families to register for second semester summer school here.

2.  Marsh visit reinforces lessons about grit, growth mindset
As part of Glenbard East’s Advanced Placement Launch class, students visited Lincoln Marsh and practiced what they learned about the importance of grit and having a growth mindset. AP Launch, offered at all four of our schools, gives students a head start as they enter their first AP courses and helps them learn time management and study skills, as well as the value of study groups.

3.  Students invited to join Teen Advisory Panel
On Wednesday, June 21, students are invited to strengthen their leadership skills and enjoy service work by joining Reality Illinois/the Teen Advisory Panel to the DuPage County Health Department. The group, which advocates for healthy lifestyle behaviors, will meet on Wednesdays throughout the summer from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Glenbard District 87 administrative center, 596 Crescent Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

After presentations by our Reality Illinois students last summer, the Park Boards in Glen Ellyn and Carol Stream passed ordinances to make their parks smoke-free.  All high school students in DuPage County are welcome to join. Come for one meeting or all meetings. For more information, contact Gilda Ross, student & community projects coordinator, at gilda_ross@glenbard.org or 630-942-7668.
